Qadria Trust is pleased to announce our new initiative; a support group for reverts.
Alhamdolillah, Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and this is true in every corner of the globe, including our hometown of Birmingham. Indeed, most of us will know of at least one brother or sister who has been blessed by Allah to receive the light of faith and revert to Islam.
Many reverts, when they openly declare their new faith, find themselves either actively disowned or slowly drifting apart from family and friends who do not understand or agree with their decision. They find themselves isolated; disconnected from their past but not yet integrated into the Muslim community, unsure of where to turn for help, support, and further education regarding their new faith.
It is for this reason that Qadria Trust is starting a revert support group – to provide a means for reverts to connect with each other, and to receive the support they need from the local Muslim community. This is following in the footsteps of our blessed Prophet (peace be upon him), who in effect created the first support group for new reverts; his beloved companions (may Allah be pleased with them all).
We are starting this initiative with:
- WhatsApp support group
- Monthly gathering at Qadria Trust
- Segregation for men and women
- Food will be served
Support projects we are aiming to provide in future, working in conjunction with our reverts, include:
- Islamic literature and education
- Job support, including finding work
- Social events for families, men, women and children
- Matchmaking
